Anker History

Anker Innovations was founded in September 2011 by Steven Yang, a former senior software engineer at Google who holds a master's degree in Computer Science from the University of Texas at Austin. Yang left Google and returned to his native Changsha, in Hunan province, China, with a vision to produce high-quality, affordable electronics accessories and to challenge the prevailing perception that Chinese-made products were inherently low quality. The company was initially incorporated in Shenzhen, Guangdong, before relocating its headquarters to Changsha.

Anker's earliest products were replacement laptop batteries, but the business quickly pivoted to smartphone chargers, wall adapters and portable power banks as integrated batteries replaced removable ones in mobile devices. The company built its early growth almost entirely through the Amazon Marketplace, winning over customers with reliable products backed by strong customer service. By 2012, Anker had achieved monthly sales of $1 million, and by 2014 a compact lipstick-shaped power bank had exceeded 100 million RMB in sales. In 2018 Anker pioneered the use of gallium nitride (GaN) components in consumer chargers, making it possible to deliver high wattage in a far smaller form factor — a technology the company has continued to advance through its GaNPrime range. Anker went public on the Shenzhen Stock Exchange in 2020, and by 2023 had become the world’s number one mobile charging brand by retail value. Revenue grew from $2.46 billion in 2023 to $3.43 billion in 2024.

Alongside the core Anker charging brand, the company operates several sub-brands: Soundcore (wireless audio, launched 2014), eufy (smart home and security cameras, launched 2016), Nebula (portable projectors, later merged into Soundcore in 2025), and Anker SOLIX (home energy storage and solar, launched 2023). Anker maintains subsidiaries in the UK, USA, Japan, Singapore and Germany, and sells to over 100 countries worldwide.

Common Anker Questions

Does Anker offer an NHS or key worker discount?

Anker does not currently offer a specific NHS or key worker discount scheme in the UK. There is no Blue Light Card or Health Service Discounts partnership. Anker does run regular promotions, a referral scheme (10% referral cash), and an AnkerCredits loyalty programme — these are the best routes to savings outside of sale events.

Does Anker offer a student or teacher discount?

Yes. Anker offers a 15% education discount for students and teachers via their Education Discount programme on the Anker UK website. Simply verify your status through the Education Discount page at anker.com/uk to receive your code.

What warranty does Anker offer?

Warranty periods vary by product. Most chargers and cables carry an 18-month warranty; many cables carry a lifetime warranty. Power banks and hubs are typically covered for 18 months. Portable power stations (Anker SOLIX) carry longer warranties — check the individual product listing for the precise period. All warranties are automatically tracked in Anker's system; no product registration is required. For quality-related faults, Anker provides a replacement at no shipping cost to UK customers.

What is Anker's returns policy?

Anker offers a 30-day money-back guarantee on all products. Undamaged items may be returned for any reason within 30 days of delivery. Returns must include all accessories and original packaging. For change-of-mind returns, the buyer is responsible for return shipping costs. For quality-related faults, Anker provides a prepaid return label. Refunds are processed within 3–5 working days of the returned item arriving at the warehouse.

How does Anker delivery work in the UK?

Free delivery on all UK orders over £28. Orders under £28 may incur a delivery charge. Anker uses Amazon as its logistics partner for UK fulfilment, and the carrier is selected by Amazon. You can cancel an order within 60 minutes of placing it if delivery details need correcting.

Does Anker offer a loyalty programme?
