Wickes is the UK's second-largest home improvement retailer, operating more than 230 stores nationwide. The first UK Wickes opened in Whitefield, Manchester, in 1972 - a joint venture between US-based Wickes Companies and British builders' merchant Sankey's - making it the country's first fixed-price builders' merchant. Since those early years the business has grown steadily, passing 200 stores in 2011 and floating on the London Stock Exchange as a standalone company in April 2021 following a demerger from Travis Perkins.

Listed on the LSE under the ticker WIX and a constituent of the FTSE 250, Wickes serves both trade professionals and DIY homeowners from the same stores.
