Shark (SharkNinja) History

Shark is a brand of SharkNinja, a global product design and technology company founded in 1994 by Mark Rosenzweig in Montreal, Canada. Originally incorporated as Euro-Pro Operating LLC, the business grew out of Rosenzweig's family sewing and appliance business, initially selling domestic ironing systems, steam presses and food processors under the Euro-Pro brand. In 2003, the headquarters relocated to Needham, Massachusetts, USA, to support further expansion.

The Shark brand itself was formally launched in 2007 with the introduction of No-Loss-of-Suction vacuum technology, a significant innovation that drove rapid growth in the vacuum cleaner market. The companion brand Ninja was launched in 2009, focused on kitchen appliances including blenders and air fryers. By the end of 2009, the company's gross sales had surpassed $400 million. The company was renamed SharkNinja in 2015. Today SharkNinja is listed on the New York Stock Exchange, employs over 2,800 people across 25 offices in nine countries, and holds more than 4,500 active patents. The Shark brand is the UK's best-selling vacuum brand, competing directly with Dyson, and has expanded into hair care, beauty and air quality products.

What is the Shark Outlet?

The Shark Outlet offers refurbished and ex-display Shark products at up to 70% off the original retail price. All outlet products have been inspected and tested to confirm they are in full working order. Refurbished items carry a 1-year guarantee. The outlet is also available via Shark's eBay store, where additional savings can sometimes be found on already reduced items.

Does Shark offer an NHS discount?

Yes. Shark offers a 9% NHS and key worker discount verified via Health Service Discounts. The discount is available to a broad range of key workers including NHS staff, military, police, fire service, teachers, delivery and transport workers, charity workers and supermarket staff. Verify your employment status on the Shark discount page to receive a unique code.

Does Shark offer a student discount?

Yes. Students and graduates can claim a 9% discount verified via UNiDAYS. Shark also offers a 10% discount for young professionals aged 18-25, and a discount for customers aged 55 and over - all verified through the same discounts page on the Shark website.

What is Shark's guarantee?

All new Shark products purchased directly from Shark come with a guarantee of up to 5 years when registered on the Shark website. The standard guarantee period without registration is 1 year. Battery guarantees extend to 2 or 5 years depending on the product. Refurbished outlet products carry a 1-year guarantee.

What is Shark's returns policy?

Shark offers a 30-day returns policy on all main units. Returns are free - Shark provides a prepaid returns label. Items must be returned in resaleable condition in original packaging with all user manuals. Refunds are processed within 10 working days of receipt. Extended returns apply over the Christmas period for purchases made from November onwards.

How does Shark delivery work?

Shark offers free next-day delivery, seven days a week, on all orders over £30 (£3.50 delivery charge on orders below £30). Orders placed before 8pm qualify for next-day delivery. A 1-hour delivery time slot is provided. Parts and accessories are delivered separately via DPD. Next-day and weekend delivery is not available to all postcodes.
