You might be missing out on some big savings if you aren't using Amazon Warehouse. You'll be able to find an extra 20% off already discounted used products and the great thing is, it's still covered by Amazon's return policy!

What is Amazon Warehouse?

Amazon Warehouse is a part of Amazon offering quality pre-owned, used and open box products. Each item is quality checked and inspected and any necessary repairs are made. You can save up to 50% buying quality used or open box products. Most goods are in great condition, but just come shy of reaching Amazon's standard as officially 'new'. You might see damaged boxes or missing instruction manuals, but most discounts are due to blemishes or missing parts most of us don't really care about anyway. Amazon has taken the time to use detailed descriptions to help you understand the condition. It will describe its functionality and cosmetic condition to help you make an informed purchase. Your purchase is covered by Amazon's usual returns policy, so if you aren't satisfied you still have the right to return that you have with a regular Amazon purchase. The only real difference is that they won't be able to offer a replacement product at the price you paid, due to each product being individually priced based on its condition.

What kind of quality can I expect?

Amazon has made it extremely easy to understand the quality of the products sold via the Warehouse. On top of detailed explanations they also have a number of condition indicators:

  • Used - Like New. These products are in full working condition, complete with all essential add ons and accessories. You'll mainly find this status given to products where the box or packaging has a bit of damage but the product in general is like new. Often these products are completely unused!
  • Use - Very Good. These items are in very good condition but may have had some light use. Expect products with full functionality but some minor cosmetic problems. The product might have been repackaged or the original packaging might be damaged. The items may also have a few non-essential accessories missing. These might be things like extra attachments or instruction booklets. Check the listing to see full details on anything that might be missing.
  • Used - Good. These products will be showing more significant wear and tear but are still fully functional. Cosmetic issues might include small dents or scratches. The thing to start looking out for with these products is the status of missing accessories. These items might have essential accessories missing and in some cases these parts might be needed for the product to function properly. In this case you'd have to separately buy the missing parts before it can be used. Again, be sure to check the full description for details on missing items and parts.
  • Used - Acceptable. These products are likely to be visibly used but still serve its overall main function. On top of potential damaged packaging you may see more serious cosmetic problems like dents, scratches and worn edges. Similarly to 'Used - Good' products, these items might be missing essential components that will need purchasing for the product to be fully functional. You'll be able to see a list of missing parts in the listing description.

Where can I find Amazon Warehouse listings?

So this all sounds great, right? But trying to find the deals can be a little overwhelming. While you can try checking back to the Amazon Warehouse on a regular basis to see if anything takes your fancy, we recommend only using it when you know what you're wanting to buy. There's little point buying products you wouldn't normally buy, or the savings are irrelevant! There are a few of easy ways to find Amazon Warehouse deals:

  • Browse all Amazon Warehouse Deals
  • Utilise the Amazon search bar drop down. To the left of the main search bar when shopping from the desktop, you'll see a hand drop down menu listing all of the available Amazon categories. In this list you'll be able to select Amazon Warehouse before continuing with your search.
  • On the product page. Most of us go straight to the buy now button when using the Amazon site, but you could be missing out on savings. Scroll down just a bit and you'll be able to see options for other sellers. While there will often be a number of third party sellers, keep an eye out for listings where the seller is 'Amazon Warehouse'. See the example below of savings on Beats headphones.

This is an easy way to quickly check if you can grab a discount without specifically having to search via Amazon Warehouse.

  • Via the Amazon app. When using the app, simply click on the menu and expand the 'Shop by Department' section. You'll be able to see Amazon Warehouse listed here. You can then search Amazon Warehouse via the search bar or just browse by category on the main Warehouse page.

Amazon Warehouse is a great way to find discounts on large ticket items. In general if you are looking for a like-new product you won't find massive percentage savings, but when buying large ticket items like branded electronics and coffee machines, even a small percentage goes a long way if all you're putting up with is a couple of blemishes in the packaging or a missing booklet. If you fancy yourself as a bit of a handyperson, you can buy the lower quality goods for closer to 50% off some listings, but you'll have to put a little work into getting them up and running again. Be sure to check the price on any spare parts you might need, you don't want to run the risk of the overall cost being more than if you'd just bought something brand new! The Amazon Warehouse stock is updated constantly but it all depends on what's being sent back. If you're not in a rush then it can be great to keep an eye out in the Warehouse for a discount, but don't expect to be able to find everything you want in the Warehouse every time you visit the Amazon website.
